What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format for iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. It offers excellent image quality at roughly half the file size of JPG. However, many devices and applications don't support HEIC natively.
If you've received photos from an iPhone user or transferred images from your own Apple device, you may find that Windows, Android, and many websites can't open them. That's where HEIC2ALL comes in.
Learn more about this format in our complete guide to HEIC.
Why Convert HEIC?
While HEIC is efficient, it's not universally supported. You may need to convert HEIC files when:
- Sharing with Windows users - Windows requires additional codecs to view HEIC
- Posting on social media - Many platforms don't accept HEIC uploads directly
- Sending via email - Recipients may not be able to open HEIC attachments
- Printing photos - Most print services require JPG or PNG
- Using in web projects - Browsers have limited HEIC support
